The National Digital library of India is a virtual repository of learning resources, which provides free of cost access to Reference books, textbooks, articles, videos, audio books, lectures, simulations, fiction and all other kinds of learning media. As of April 2019, NDLI hosts 4,58,25,715+ (4.5 crore+) items in its repository, with over 1,50,000 volumes in English.

National Webinar on National Digital Library of India: User Awareness Program

Chandrabhan Sharma College, Library & Information Centre organized an National Webinar on National Digital Library of India: User Awareness Program, on 19th August 2020 (Wednesday) from 05.00pm to 06.30pm to all faculty members and students of Chandrabhan Sharma CollegeThe resource person for this webinar was Dr. Vignesh Sornamohan, Chief Strategic and Outreach Officer NDLI, IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal. 

Vignesh Sornamohan Sir has started his session with the introducing NDLI to all the participants, why everyone should use it and  how it is helpful in this pandemic, it has various user models, various access options wise content availability and types of resources available in it, and then he gave tour of how to access NDLI, which can be access in many Indian languages. In NDLI lots of video lectures are available to understand the concept clearly, to search various filter option area available can search by Access Restriction, Author, Subject category, Educational Degree, Difficulty level, File format, language, Resource Type, etc. 

Sir has showed how to do individual registration and bulk registration in NDLI portal, he then Introduced NDLI Mobile App which is Available on Android and iOS and in UMANG App, and lastly explained about Google Vs. NDLI: How is it Different?, Examples of users those are using NDLI, also showed HOW TO OPERATE NDLI CLUB?, Activities carried out in NDLI Club. From this WEBINAR, the participants got the opportunity to know about the vast resources available online through NDLI where they can sit at one place and access number of e-resources through various search strategy.

National Level Webinar on Smart Tools for Teaching and Research

Library & Information Centre organized an National Level Webinar on Smart Tools for Teaching and Research, on 11th July 2020 (Saturday) from 11.00am onwards,  to all faculty members from University/ affiliated colleges/ Institutions, and Research scholars. The resource person for this webinar was Mr. Pralhad Jadhav, Senior Manager - Library (Khaitan & Co.) Mumbai. 

Resource person Mr. Pralhad Jadhav Sir explained various concepts in this webinar “How Smart Tools are Used for Teaching and Research” explained different Google tools includes Google Search, Advanced Search, Google News, Google Alert, Google Custom Search Engine, Google Translation, Google Image and Reverse Search, Google Drive and Google Form, how to search books and articles from Google books and Google Scholar, explained Google Desktop search with examples, various search strategies- such as keyword search, Boolean Technique, Phrase Search & others Organic and Paid Search, Similar & cached pages, Sir has also explained the difference between print newspaper, e-newspaper and online newspaper, various academic content like E-pathshala, Shodh ganga- a reservoir of Indian theses, NDLI, DOAJ, DOAB, etc.

Online Quiz on Yoga Awareness

Yoga has recently become a very popular exercise form not just in the country, but worldwide. Yoga has benefits for the body and the mind and is an inexpensive, convenient, and effective exercise form. June 21 is celebrated as International Yoga Day, but as we celebrate and observe the day when the whole world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, Government of India, has started a campaign called “Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family”, to encourage the practice of Yoga to counter the effects of the viral infection, as well as to stay healthy overall. So seeing to this Chandrabhan Sharma College of Arts, Science & Commerce IQAC Cell in association with Library and Information Centre organizes 6th International Yoga Day online Yoga Quiz Awareness. There were 20 questions given to solve each question carry 2 marks with no registration fees, received around 100+ responses from the participants. E-certificates will be issued if the score is above 50 %. The quiz will provide knowledge about the International Day of Yoga, its past observances, and several initiatives conducted every year by the government.

Online Quiz on Research Methodology

Online Quiz Competition was organized by Chandrabhan Sharma College Library on 28th April 2020 on Research Methodology to help students, researchers and teachers to increase and update their knowledge on this topic. With the help of Google Quiz Forms quiz was organized. There were 20 questions given to solve each question carry 1 marks with no registration fees, received around 500+ responses from the participants.

Intercollegiate Book Review Competition

Library & Information Centre organized an Intercollegiate Book Review Competition, on 29th February 2020. The competition was judged by Dr. Aruna Singham, Assistant Professor, S. K. Somaiya college and Mr. Vijay Namdas, Librarian, N. L. Dalmia College of Arts, Science & Commerce. Students from various colleges in Mumbai participated in this event. Winner of competition was Alka Motwani (C.H.M. College), 1st runner up was Rohit Thakur (V.E.S. College) and 2nd Runner up was Aashlesh Tavhare (R.J. College) all the three winners were awarded with cash prize and winner certificate. Principal Dr. Pratima Singh initiated the activity to encourage the students to get into the habit of reading informative and recreational books.
